CHOA
held a Town Hall meeting on December 18, 2003, that was called to
order at 7 p.m. The agenda included topics such as the
financial report, Fairways of Woodlake II wall heightening, followed
by the typical old and new business topics. Ten CHOA homeowners
attended the meeting.
The financial report included an
attest of the October balance sheet compiled by Maribel, association
manager. The 2004 budget was presented that outlined the $175.00
assessment increase. The assessment increase provoked many
questions from those in attendance. The inquiries were
addressed in the wall heightening discussion. Civic Affairs
Committee and the Kirby Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) were the
other major budget appropriations that differ from the past CHOA budgets.
The 2004 Civic Affairs is
fortified by a $425 increase for a total budget of $925. The
increase is projected for condolences, welcomes, decoration
acquisition, and etc.
KVFD provides fire protection to
our subdivision. The BOD compiled some staggering facts about
contributions to the KVFD. Over the past two years only four
individual contributions were made to the KVFD from homeowners of
Fairways of Woodlake II. The KVFD chief solicited $30 per
dwelling within it's jurisdiction. We have 57 homes; so $570
was budgeted as a combined CHOA membership contribution. The
contribution equates to one-third of the chief's request or $10 per dwelling.
The wall issue consumed most of
the meeting. The last accident coupled with years of talks, and
pursued legal action led to the board moving forward for
improvement. In order to meet CHOA safety and privacy
necessities regarding the wall; revenue is needed. Therefore,
the board agreed to increase the assessment fee now.
